Welcome to the Washoe Regional Information Center! Thank you for visiting our site to learn about emergency preparedness and safety from large-scale natural disasters that can impact Reno, Sparks and Washoe County.
In the event of an emergency that is being led by multiple government organizations, like for example a large wildfire, flooding or communicable disease (COVID-19), this site will be transformed to give all residents up-to-the-minute information as it relates to that emergency response.
Whether it’s shelter information for those who evacuated from a wildfire, temporary housing options for those displaced by a flood or where to get tested if you were exposed to a HAZMAT situation, information of that kind will be available for residents.
Public information officers and communications specialists from several local government agencies will be working to provide this information, much like they did for COVID-19 with the www.COVID19Washoe.com site.
While we hope that we don’t have to use this platform, the entities of the City of Reno, City of Sparks, Washoe County and the Washoe County Health District are ready to deliver critical information to residents when called up.
In the meantime, we hope that you can enjoy the content of this site as it will help you be prepared what can happen in Washoe County. There are several official agencies in our area that are dedicated to safety of residents during natural disasters – we encourage you to follow the links to those informational sites to better serve you and your family if a crisis strikes.
