Assessor’s Office Working Diligently to Assess Property Damage from Recent Fires

Washoe County Assessor’s Office is working diligently and efficiently to assess property damage resulting from several recent fires. Property records and assessed values are being reviewed for accuracy on all affected properties.

The Assessor’s Office recognizes the significant impact these fires have had on property owners and taxpayers and understands the importance of providing accurate and timely information. Staff are actively reviewing affected properties, evaluating reported damage, and examining property records to identify and address any necessary updates or corrections.

“Our office understands the uncertainty and concern that property owners may be experiencing following these fires,” said Chris Sarman, Washoe County Assessor. “Our team is committed to carefully reviewing each affected property and making sure our records and values are as accurate as possible based on the extent of the damage, information available to us, and as provided by applicable laws and regulations within our assessment procedures.”

Property owners whose properties have been impacted by the recent fires are encouraged to contact the Assessor’s Office with information regarding damage to their property. Providing timely and accurate information can assist staff in completing the review process as efficiently as possible. The Assessor’s Office also encourages property owners to understand that the review of fire-damaged properties may take time. Each property must be evaluated individually to ensure that the appropriate information is reflected in the official record.
