Summary: Firefighters continue to make progress on the Hawk Fire. With most containment lines secure, work is focused on patrol, mop-up, and suppression repair. Crews continue to monitor isolated heat along the western portion of the fire, with minimal fire behavior expected.

Suppression Repair: Heavy equipment and crews continue repairing dozer lines, roads, handlines, and other areas impacted by suppression activities. Much of the repair work on the eastern portion of the fire is expected to be completed within 24 to 48 hours, while additional work will continue along the northwest portion.

Weather: Breezy conditions are expected Monday, with temperatures in the low to mid-80s, relative humidity of 15 to 20%, and southwest wind gusts up to 25 mph. Stronger winds are expected Tuesday, with gusts potentially reaching 35 mph. Although significant fire growth is not anticipated, dry vegetation outside the perimeter remains receptive to fire and the public is encouraged to continue using caution with anything that could cause a new wildfire.

Transition: Great Basin Complex Incident Management Team 6 is preparing to transition the Hawk Fire to a local Type 4 organization. Resources will continue to be adjusted to meet incident needs as patrol and suppression repair continue.

Following the team’s departure, questions regarding the Hawk Fire may be directed to the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, or Reno Fire Department.

Evacuations and Closures: While most evacuation areas have reopened, forest closures remain in effect while mop-up, suppression repair, and safety work continue. Roads, trails, and recreation areas within the closure remain closed, and violations may result in fines. Current evacuation and closure information is available on the Perimeter Map.

Safety: Fire crews, utility workers, and public safety personnel continue to operate heavy equipment throughout the affected area. Please slow down, remain alert, and give personnel and equipment plenty of space.
