193 recoveries, 66 new COVID-19 cases reported

Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting 193 recoveries and 66 additional COVID-19 cases in Washoe County. The increase in recoveries is attributed to data cleanup.

Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 8,743 (+66 from 9/20)

  • Deaths: 154 (+0)
  • Recovered: 7,368 (+193)
  • Active cases: 1,221 (-127)
  • Currently hospitalized: 52 (+1)
  • Cases who have discharged from hospital: 631 (+1)

COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County

  • Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of September 21: 130,735 (+883 since 9/20)

Note: These figures are provided by the State of Nevada and can be found on the State Dashboard. COVID-19 tests may include non-Washoe County residents who were tested in Washoe County.

Hospital bed and ventilator information

According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of September 21:

  • 61 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (-7% since 9/18)
  • 38 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (-5%)
  • 19 percent of all ventilators are in use (+3%)

NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.

COVID-19 Antibody Test Update

There have been about 115 participants scheduled to receive an COVID-19 antibody test to take part in Phase 2 of the Washoe County seroprevalence (antibody) project. The Health District still needs more participation – those who received a letter inviting them to participate are strongly encouraged to follow the instructions in the letter to sign up.  Only households that received the mail invitation may participate in the study; residents cannot opt in.
