2 COVID-19-related deaths, 128 new cases reported

Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting two COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County: A female in her 50s and a male in his 70s; both had underlying health conditions as determined by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). There have been 170 COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County.

Additionally, there were 128 new COVID-19 cases reported with 89 recoveries.

  • Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 10,646 (+128 from 10/10)
  • Deaths: 170 (+2)
  • Recovered: 9,156 (+89)
  • Active cases: 1,320 (+37)
  • Currently hospitalized: 76 (+1)
  • Cases who have discharged from hospital: 736 (+1)

COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County

  • Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of October 9: 155,774 (+1,185 since 10/10)

Note: These figures are provided by the State of Nevada and can be found on the State Dashboard. COVID-19 tests may include non-Washoe County residents who were tested in Washoe County.

Hospital bed and ventilator information

According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of October 9:

  • 67 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (+3% since 10/8)
  • 44 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (-1%)
  • 18 percent of all ventilators are in use (+1%)

NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
