Dec. 24, 2020. Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting seven additional COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County:

  • Female, 70s, underlying health condition
  • Female, 70s, underlying health condition
  • Male, 60s, underlying health condition
  • Male, 60s, there were no underlying health conditions
  • Male, 40s, underlying health condition
  • Male, 60s, underlying health condition
  • Male, 60s, underlying health condition

There have been 440 COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County, including 162 in December.

Additionally, we’re reporting 322 new COVID-19 cases in Washoe County.

  • Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 34,159 (+322 from 12/23)
  • Deaths: 440 (+7)
  • Recovered: 19,762 (+115)
  • Active cases: 13,957 (+200)
  • Hospitalized with COVID-19*: 298 (-14)

*Data from Nevada Hospital Association (not updated on weekends or holidays) includes residents from outside of Washoe County.

NOTE: There will not be a COVID-19 Regional Update on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1.

COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County

  • Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of December 24: 289,282 (+2,271 since 12/23)

Note: These figures are provided by the State of Nevada and can be found on the State Dashboard. COVID-19 tests may include non-Washoe County residents who were tested in Washoe County.

Hospital bed and ventilator information

According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of December 24 (Numbers not updated on weekends):

  • 85 percent staffed hospital beds are occupied (-2% since 12/23)
  • 73 percent of all licensed hospital beds are occupied (-1%)
  • 67 percent of all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+0%)
  • 35 percent of all ventilators are in use (-1%)

NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
