Washoe County Regional Emergency Management has established an evacuation center for those in the Gold Ranch Fire evacuation zone.

Evacuees can go to the Northwest Reno Library, 2325 Robb Drive, Reno, for overnight resources provided by the Red Cross. Washoe County Regional Animal Services (WCRAS) has a small-animal trailer on site for pets and small animals. Large animals can be taken to the Reno Livestock Event Center with prior notice to WCRAS.

The fire, originally named the Quilici Fire, started Sunday afternoon after vegetation ignited from a car fire on Interstate 80. As of Monday afternoon, approximately 400 structures were threatened, and Truckee Meadows Fire and Reno Fire Department are operating in a unified command to battle the blaze.

Real-time evacuation zone updates can be found at www.perimetermap.com. This is a dynamic situation, and residents are asked to avoid the area if possible to allow firefighting access and room to work.

A red flag warning is in effect as winds are expected to increase. NV Energy has approximately 6,300 customers without power in northwest Reno. Residents can view a dashboard of emergency information, including evacuations, power outages, live fire webcams, and air quality reports here.

To arrange drop-off of large animals, call WCRAS Dispatch at 775-322-3647. For other information on services available to those affected by the fire, call Washoe311 at 3-1-1 or 775-328-2003.
