Regional Information Center Update – Oct. 31

1 COVID-19-related death, 94 recoveries & 59 new cases

Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting an additional COVID-19-related death: A male in his 50s with underlying health conditions. There have been 198 COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County.

Additionally, we’re reporting 94 recoveries from COVID-19 and 59 new COVID-19 cases. It’s the first time since Oct. 21 where there were more recoveries reported than new COVID-19 cases in Washoe County.

Residents are asked to celebrate Nevada Day safely to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community. The current Governor’s mandate limits private gatherings to 10 or fewer indoors and 25 or fewer outdoors.

  • Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 13,637 (+59 from 10/30)
  • Deaths: 198 (+1)
  • Recovered: 11,134 (+94)
  • Active cases: 2,305 (-36)
  • Currently hospitalized: 79 (-6)
  • Cases who have discharged from hospital: 878 (+7)

COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County

  • Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of October 31: 179,398 (+1,850 since 10/30)

Note: These figures are provided by the State of Nevada and can be found on the State Dashboard. COVID-19 tests may include non-Washoe County residents who were tested in Washoe County. In the event of a decrease in tests, the likely cause is a cleanup of the data and removing unintended duplications.

Hospital bed and ventilator information

According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of October 30:

  • 78 percent staffed hospital beds are occupied (-6% since 10/29)
  • 67 percent of all licensed hospital beds are occupied (-2%)
  • 52 percent of all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+2%)
  • 14 percent of all ventilators are in use (-4%)

NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
