Nov. 7, 2020. Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting a record 469 additional COVID-19 cases in Washoe County (breaking the previous mark by nearly 100) and one COVID-19-related death.
The deceased is a male in his 70s with no underlying health conditions, the 206th COVID-19-related death in Washoe County.
The 469 new cases breaks the previous record of 377 daily cases that was set three days ago. The seven-day moving average for new cases is at 280 (breaking the previous record of 221 set yesterday) and is three times higher than it was on Oct. 7 (87).
Active cases are at a record 3,474 in Washoe County, which is nearly three times higher than it was on Oct. 7 (1,231).
“The transmission of COVID-19 in Washoe County is alarming and at a level where our vulnerable populations are at extreme risk,” said Kevin Dick, District Health Officer in Washoe County. “Gatherings with people outside your household should absolutely be avoided. They are the most common reason for transmission. This is a critical point in the pandemic where the social decisions we make can negatively impact the health and wellness of loved ones. Please be vigilant, wear a mask, observe social distancing and avoid contact with non-household members.”

Hospital bed and ventilator information
According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of November 6:
- 83 percent staffed hospital beds are occupied (-3% since 11/5)
- 69 percent of all licensed hospital beds are occupied (-2%)
- 61 percent of all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+6%)
- 22 percent of all ventilators are in use (+2%)
